How it works

Connect AuctionMate with your eBay account

When first launching the app, AuctionMate asks you to be connected with your eBay account. Tap on the connect button to open an eBay web site which asks you to log in. Tap on "I agree" to create the connection between eBay and AuctionMate. This procedure is enforced by eBay and ensures the security of your eBay account (details).

If you don't want to connect your account you can still search for items on that page.

Home Screen

After connecting your account you are directed to the application home screen which will welcome you from now on whenever you launch AuctionMate.

This screen presents an overview over your eBay activities. You can see the number of items in each section for watching, buying, and selling. Tap on a button to display the corresponding list.

You may enter a search term on that screen and press "enter" or tap on the search button to search for an item on eBay.

AuctionMate automatically updates this screen and the lists whenever you make changes from within the app. To update manually, simply tap on the update button on the lower left.

Lists

The lists in AuctionMate contain the same items as the lists on your My eBay page. The list gives you an overview over the most important properties of an item.

Tap on an item to open the detail view for that item.

You can navigate to the next or previous list by tapping on an arrow in the list title bar. Or tap on the title to jump directly to a different list.

If the watchlist is shown, you can remove an item from that list by swiping that item to the left or right our of the list.

Display items and bidding

The item detail page displays all relevant information about an item. You can switch to the image view or display the item description using the buttons on the bottom of the screen.

A status bar below the item title displays important information such as that you're watching that item or if you are the high bidder.

If the item is not on your watch list you can add it to the list by tapping on the watch icon on the lower left on the screen. The browser button on the lower right opens the item page in the browser. If you want to place a bid only in the very last second the update button may help you to keep track of that item.

Tap on "place bid" to open the bidding dialog. In this dialog you may enter your bid and tap on the green button. A new dialog will appear that displays the exact amount and the item name and asks for confirmation. Your bid will be placed after you tap on that button.

If the item features a buy it now option you can buy the item by tapping on the corresponding button. If more than one item is available, a dialog will ask for the number of items you want to buy.

Preferences

Tap on the AuctionMate application title to open the menu and preferences.

If AuctionMate is connected with your eBay account the account name is displayed here. Tap on that name to delete the account settings from AuctionMate. If you do that, AuctionMate can no longer access your eBay account.

In the preferences dialog you can also select the eBay country site that is used by AuctionMate. By default, the appropriate site is derived from your phone settings. You can override this selection by choosing a different site. This selection affects the language of eBay messages and the marketplace for searches.

Notes about the connection with eBay

To use all features of AuctionMate you need to connect the app with your eBay account. This can be done from the start screen if the app is not connected with an account. During the connection procedure eBay will ask for your eBay username and password. The web page that asks for your account data is an eBay website. AuctionMate never gets access to your eBay password. The password is not saved inside the application.

By logging in and accepting the connection eBay creates a token that is used by AuctionMate to interact with your eBay account. This connection can be deleted at any time directly from your My eBay page.

This procedure is enforced and required by eBay to ensure your accounts security. AuctionMate is certified by eBay to use this mechanism. You may refer to our terms and licensing page for further details.

Updates

This app checks on startup if updates are available. If there is an update in the Palm App Catalog it will display a short message.
