How it works

Connect AuctionMate with your eBay account

When first launching the app, AuctionMate asks you to be connected with your eBay account. Tap on the connect button to open an eBay web site which asks you to log in. Tap on "I agree" to create the connection between eBay and AuctionMate. This procedure is enforced by eBay and ensures the security of your eBay account (details).

If you have problems to connect your eBay account within the app, you can also connect your account via your PC or Mac. In this case, AuctionMate can create an eMail with a link. If you follow this link on your desktop computer, the connection process is started.

If you don't want to connect your account you can still search for items on that page.

Home Screen

After connecting your account you are directed to the application home screen which will welcome you from now on whenever you launch AuctionMate.

This screen presents an overview over your eBay activities. You can see the number of items in each section for watching, buying, and selling. Tap on a button to display the corresponding list.

If you have any reminders, a notice is display in the upper right corner. Tap on the notice to show the list of reminders.

You may enter a search term on that screen and press "enter" or tap on the search button to search for an item on eBay. The advanced search can be reached by tapping on the advanced search button.

Messages can be display by tapping on the lower right button. The number of unread messages is displayed in the button.

AuctionMate automatically updates this screen and the lists whenever you make changes from within the app. To update manually, simply tap on the update button on the lower left.

Display items and bidding

The item detail page displays all relevant information about an item. You can switch to the image view or display the item description using the buttons on the bottom of the screen.

If the item is not on your watch list you can add it to the list by tapping on the watch icon on the lower left on the screen.

If you want to place a bid only in the very last second the update button may help you to keep track of that item.

Tap on "place bid" to open the bidding dialog. In this dialog you may enter your bid and tap on the green button. A new dialog will appear that displays the exact amount and the item name and asks for confirmation. Your bid will be placed after you tap on that button.

Activate the notifications which inform you about important events of your articles. You can also configure, how often AuctionMate should check for new notifications.

The option "Remove immediately" configures that articles in the watchlist are directly removed from the watchlist by swiping to the left or right. If this settings is deactivated, you must confirm that you want to remove the swiped article.

Notes about the connection with eBay

To use all features of AuctionMate you need to connect the app with your eBay account. This can be done from the start screen if the app is not connected with an account. During the connection procedure eBay will ask for your eBay username and password. The web page that asks for your account data is an eBay website. AuctionMate never gets access to your eBay password. The password is not saved inside the application.

By logging in and accepting the connection eBay creates a token that is used by AuctionMate to interact with your eBay account. This connection can be deleted at any time directly from your My eBay page.

This procedure is enforced and required by eBay to ensure your accounts security. AuctionMate is certified by eBay to use this mechanism. You may refer to our terms and licensing page for further details.

Updates

This app checks on startup if updates are available. If there is an update in the Palm App Catalog it will display a short message.
